Curtis

Charla M. Curtis is a dedicated educator with 26 years of experience at Appomattox County Schools. Throughout her career, she has taught PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, served as a math remediation teacher, instructional coach, and currently teaches Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). Her wide range of roles has given her a deep appreciation for students at every stage of learning.

Charla has been a wife for 38 years, a proud mother of four, and a joyful gramma to seven grandchildren—with two more expected in the spring of 2026. She and her family live on a small farm filled with cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, and whatever other animals happen to make their way home. When she’s not teaching or tending the farm, she enjoys crafting, crocheting, sewing, and canning. (And—shh—don’t tell anyone, but she really loves organizing things.)

Charla has thoroughly enjoyed her transition to the high school setting and being part of FCS classes and FCCLA. This change has given her the opportunity to try something new and work closely with high school students. Watching them grow, mature, develop life skills, and achieve their goals has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
