Savannah

Hi, my name is Savannah, and I am the vice president of national programs. I’ve been in FCCLA for two years now. It’s taken up half of my high school career, and it’s been amazing. I’ve had so many opportunities and connections I would never have made if I hadn’t jjoined FCCLA. I’ve had fun helping the community and developing new skills that will help me in my adulthood. I’ve learned communication, planning, and other skills that help me become a better me.

Moving from a different country was and still is very hard for me, so I was very hesitant to put myself out there socially and be myself without masking my true personality and feelings. One day, I finally gave it a chance and decided to join a club. It was a very scary, rough start because it had been a long time since I really expressed myself to a group of people. After I started getting comfortable, I felt free to be vulnerable with an amazing group of people and to stay. I’ve made incredible friendships with so many people. At the end of the school year, I was very happy and excited to learn that I was going to be the new vice president of national programs. My self-esteem wasn’t the best back then, but hearing the news made me feel really special. It was nice to know that people trust me to hold a very important title and trust me enough to put in the hard work that comes with it.

FCCLA has given me a chance to grow and become a better person, and I’ll forever be grateful for the experience. I’ve had wonderful memories, including going to the state conference last year, winning second place, and being so close to getting to nationals. Even though it was hectic, I’m 100% going to go again, no matter if we win or lose. I’ve become closer to my chapter, and I’ve met so many other amazing chapters with whom I’ve shared laughs and giggles. I would never trade that for anything else. I’m ready to grow a little more, become more social, and make a lot of new memories to bring into my adulthood. The special connections and the skills I’ve learned will never be forgotten, and I’m so grateful to be the vice president of national programs and just be part of this amazing club altogether.

FCCLA has changed my life in many ways. I cannot describe it, and I’m so happy that I built the courage to sign up. Because of that courage, my life has changed in such an amazing way.
